This world is still new so we can make up the rules as we go. Everyone knows that a wedding is the bride's big day and the gay also want the traditional elements that make people feel like they're at a wedding. For straight couples the idea of marriage and legal rights come together in a thoughtless way. But as we saw in California, same-sex couples are always under pressure to act quickly. They need our understand and support.

Happy Halloween Eve

Tomorrow is Halloween! YAY!! I love Halloween. We threw a VERY fun Halloween party on Friday at our house!! It's a costume party - everyone HAS to dress up. It's so much fun. And its always a big secret what everyone is dressing up as! This year - Scarlett's FIRST Halloween - we dressed up as . . .
Pooh, Piglet & Tigger!
I made our costumes and actually managed to do it all without sewing a stitch! I bought Josh & I gold and orange sweat suits online and turned them into Pooh (with a red tee shirt hemmed up with stitch witchery) and Tigger (glued felt tummy striped and ears on). Pretty simple. Tigger was a little time consuming, but it was definitely not dificult.
Scarlett's costume was a striped shirt I found on ebay. I cut the sleeves off and hemmed them with stitch witchery. Her tulle tutu was one of those classic no-sew tutus. And her pink tights and turtle neck, and crocs, I already had. Her ears are cut out of felt and glued onto clippies.
(I'm planning on dressing her up again on Monday and taking some better photos.)
So there we are. A Winnie the Pooh Family!
(PS - Josh surprised me on Friday with the new Winnie the Pooh movie on Blu Ray! Isn't he sweet?! We took Scarlett to see it for her first movie back when it was in theaters, so we already LOVED it. We watched it this morning and its as funny and sweet as we remembered. I'll probably do a full review soon!!)

Wedding Candy Buffet Tips
Posted by Unknown
Posted on 02:09
A wedding candy buffet is nothing but a table full of candies waiting to be relished by guests at the wedding. Candies are placed in containers or baskets with scoops to scoop them out. Wedding guests are invited to take as many candies they want from the table. The whole candy buffet is to be arranged around the centerpiece, so it's definitely an important aspect of the candy buffet. You can place anything large and attractive, such as vases filled with fragrant flowers, lamp shade, etc. Red and white candies go great with love and romantic wedding themes. You can also place lovely heart-shaped wedding cookies in between the candy to add to the charm of the candy buffet. This will give a little variety and will also keep your theme intact. Fall gummy bears are great for fall wedding themes. You can also buy orange, yellow and green colored candies and place them on the table. Your centerpiece can comprise a vase filled with lots of fall leaves. If you've chosen Christmas as your wedding theme, then red, white and green are your candy buffet colors. There are scores of options for you to choose from. Right from red candy canes, Christmas jelly candies, snowflake candies, red lollipops, etc. For garden themes, you can either have colored candies which symbolize the different colors found in the garden or you can also have your candies placed in baskets that look like flower pots. Beach weddings are extremely popular, thus beach theme candy buffets are also gaining popularity. Various shell and fish chocolates are available which go with this theme.
How to Choose Mother of Bride Outfit Styles
Posted by Unknown
Posted on 02:31
In fact according to an old tradition, selection of the mother of the bride dresses must get done before the mother of the groom outfit. There are many ideas for mother of the bride dresses and choosing the right one is of utmost importance. Both fashion magazines and online stores offer a large selection of mother of bride dresses options. If you have enough time you can go window shopping in the nearby boutiques. The most preferred mother of the bride dresses are: Evening Gown, Occasion Wear, Cocktail Dress, Tailored Suit. Evening wedding gown is definitely classy and elegant, especially at the black tie wedding. There is a huge range of occasion wear and you can accessorize them the way you want. You can wear it on semi-formal or casual evening wedding. The veteran yet elegant cocktail dresses will never go out of fashion. These are the ultimate choice for you if you are looking for an outfit for a casual or semi formal wedding. These are embellishment free wedding attires for mother of the bride that are made of heavier materials, like wool. You can wear pinafores with a cute jacket, to bring a breeze of casualness in an all dressed up evening. You can also opt for pants and jackets as well as a top and skirt of any length. Colors for these type of mother of the bride outfits can be anything from dark red, rust, navy blue to deep purples. Details like ruching and lace in the blouse and a jeweled brooch on the lapel of the jacket will help you stand out from the other wedding guests.
Choose Right Bride Hair Style
Posted by Unknown
Posted on 01:59
Your hairstyle is an important part of your appearance on your wedding day. The wedding hairstyles not only match with your personality, but also match with your dress, veil, wedding shoes, wedding colors, and the last thing is the ambience of the wedding. Formal weddings will require formal hair like an updo. If you are looking at fairy tale weddings, think of a tiara or jeweled hair accessories. With an oval face, just beware of bangs and having too much hair in your face. With a round face, go for volume and height. Think of an Audrey Hepburn updo. Those with heart-shaped faces can go with a sweep of hair across the brow in whatever style they choose. For square faces, either layered, romantic and wispy, or up and heightened. Unless you have a very beautiful face, striking, proportional features, and a nice looking hairline, opt for something else. The main reason for this is that in most of your photos, you'll be shot head on, and this particular hair style is one that needs to be seen in 360 degrees to be fully appreciated. In photos, it can look rather severe, and un-flattering. If you have an open neck, or open back dress, leave some or all of the hair down.
There are some seriously sexy and glam looks for short-haired brides. Tousle the hair on the back of your head for a wild contrast. An elasticized, fine-toothed headband is another simple-but-chic look. The mini barrette look is a sweet option for a twenty something bride; use gel to slick the front of your hair down, fastening one or two barrettes in strategic places. If you really like all wedding hairstyles for long hair, then the best thing to do it try the ones you think may be the best for you. One of the best things about wedding hairstyles for long hair is how easy many of them are to do at home. If you have a curling iron or hot rollers and some styling gel or styling product that you spray, you can do many of the above mentioned hairstyles yourself. If you dont do it right the first time, you can keep trying until you get it perfect. Simple is the best. Avoid too many hair accessories.

Wedding Attire Etiquette for Men Guests
Posted by Unknown
Posted on 01:03
A wedding invitation that arrives on expensive paper with engraved calligraphic script and formal language, chances are the wedding will be a formal affair. You can wear a dark suit. Tuxedoes are not appropriate before 6 pm. If the wedding invitation is contains pictures or caricatures of the bride chasing the groom in a wedding dress it's safe to assume the dress code will be casual. However, if the wedding invitation just does not tell you anything about the event then wedding etiquette rules state that you choose the wedding attire based on the time of the day or the location. Winter daytime weddings call for warmer clothing, including wool suits, a navy blazer with charcoal pants, and perhaps a sweater and tie underneath a blazer. In the summer daytime, a light-colored suit, especially linen or seersucker. If the invitation says casual or semi-formal, you can wear a blazer and slacks with a nice tie and a dark suit is always appropriate in a evening wedding.
Choose Your Bridal Shoes
Posted by Unknown
Posted on 00:21
Women have a strange relationship with their shoes, especially the wedding shoes. The shoes should be such that they enhance the beauty of her dress and at the same time, make her so comfortable that she can truly enjoy her special day. A wrong pair of shoes can ruin our entire good mood, our special evening. When you choose your wedding shoes, you must consider them comfortable, with a medium heel, not a very high one if you’re not used to this kind of shoes. Fashion and style are the other two criteria for choosing wedding shoes.
The kind of wedding that you have planned is an important criteria in determining your wedding shoes. If you have planned a beach wedding or are having a casual affair, flip flops, which today are available in plethora of designs and colors, will suit your wedding dress. On the other hand, if you are having a formal wedding, at the church or at a banquet, go in for classy, elegant, high-heeled shoes or sandals. If you want to look all feminine, get shoes made in fabrics such as silk, velvet, satin and lace. When choosing the fabric, see to it that it complements your wedding gown. Bridal shoes must be in a perfect combination with the dress, and they must compliment and beautify the bride’s leg.

How to Choose Wedding Attire for Women Guests
Posted by Unknown
Posted on 23:37
Women always have a wider array of options when it comes to dresses, but when it comes to wedding dresses as a guest, you ought to keep the tips followed in mind. First of all, even if you don't know wether the bride-to-be choose which colored bride dress or not, you should avoid white and shades that go near white. If it is a day wedding, a nice floral dress will be a good choice or you could also go for a llight colored suit. Things start to get tricky only when it is an informal of black tie wedding! Well, for a formal evening wedding, floor length long evening gowns made with satin or other flowy material or short cocktail dresses are extremely apt. Next, you need to avoid wearing opera length hand gloves. Add accessories like a hat or a broad belt and suitable heels and stilettos for jazzing the dress up. Knee length short floral dresses along with a stylish hat could be the best choice for women. But avoid too sexy, remember that the wedding center is the bride.

Different Wedding Gifts For Bridesmaids And Groomsmen
Posted by Unknown
Posted on 23:48
Before you decide the wedding gifts for your bridesmaids and groomsmen, you should think that: you rather purchase the same gift for each member of your wedding party or choose different? how much would you like to spend and how many people will be receiving a gift? I was a bridesmaid in a close friend’s wedding last month, and they chose to buy a thoughtful gift for each bridesmaid and groomsman. The presents varied depending on the person’s interests, all of the bridesmaids and groomsmen are moved and happy.
Since the bridesmaids and groomsmen are traditionally members of your family or close, life-long friends, you ought to take more time to prepare gifts for them. When beginning to browse for gift ideas, consider unique personalities of each your bridesmaids and groomsmen, which will be helpful in choosing an overall theme for the gifts. Before shopping for gifts, you'll should do a little research. Shopping online is the most convenient way to shop for gifts. A jewelry box with a piece of jewelry inside, a gift basket filled with different things that are specific to each bridesmaid are good choices. Personalized flasks, sports mugs and shot glasses are good idea for groomsmen gifts. Or you can decide all the gifts by yourself, that will be much more sweet.

our little redhead??

My dad is a redhead, I naturally have some definite red in my blonde hair. And yes, Scarlett's brown hair definitely has some warm tones in it, but she's not a redhead. Except maybe just as the sun goes down.
As I was editing the pictures from her 6 month photo shoot, I noticed the light in the last two frames I snapped made her look like a total redhead! Move over Anne of Green Gables, Scarlett Ann would make the most fabulous redhead ever!!
I didn't edit this to make her hair redder or anything. I promise!! The light was just so RED that evening! Even her eyebrows look red! Isn't that awesome?
I LOVE Scarlett's brown hair. I always told Josh I wanted her hair to be dark like his. But if Scarlett ever somehow ends up with red locks, I'd be thrilled. This photo is like a little glimpse into what that would be like and I LOVE IT!

Choosing Wedding Photographer
Posted by Unknown
Posted on 01:05
A good wedding photographer should have the ability to really capture mood, emotion, and sentiment within his photographs. A good Wedding Photographer shouldn't just sit there, they should move you in some way. They should provoke a reaction within you. A style of photography that can "speaks" to you is the best. When it comes to actually shooting your wedding, it is a good idea to have as many photos as possible taken before the ceremony when every one is fresh, before the flowers start to wilt, and the dresses and tuxes begin to show wrinkles - and, of course, while faces and makeup are still perfect and no one has puffy eyes from crying. If you will be having photos taken outside on a sunny day, make sure your photographer is skilled in techniques to minimize squinting problems.

MouseScrappers.com is currently raising money for "Give Kids the World", a non-profit storybook themed resort in Kissimmee Florida where children with life-threatening illnesses, and their families, are treated to week-long, cost-free fantasy vacation!
(photos courtesy of Give Kids the World)
Give Kids the World's mission is to fulfill wishes of children, and to never turn a child away. They work very closely with organizations like the Make-A-Wish Foundation to fulfill these wishes. Make-A-Wish qualifies the families and provides transportation to the Orlando area, and Give Kids the World provides a week of accommodations, food and theme park tickets - all at no cost to the families.
The resort is almost entirely staffed by friendly, loving volunteers (or "Angels", as they are called) who greet everyone with a warm smile. The facilities around the resort were designed with special needs in mind. For example, the carousel (free of course) accommodates wheel chairs. And Disney World, and other theme parks in the area send their characters right to the resort for a visit each week to meet the children!
The more I've read about this amazing place, the more amazed I am by it! I highly recommend you check out http://givekidstheworld.org and see for yourself all the amazing things they do for these families during the week that they visit. From weekly Christmas, to wheelchair accessible horseback riding, it's a dream come true for these kids and their families.
Give Kids the World relies on donations - so MouseScrappers.com decided to create a charity kit called "Wishes Happiness & Hope". It was actually in the works back when I was due with Scarlett so I didn't get to contribute. But, its such a good cause! 100% of the revenue generated from the sale of this kit will be donated to Give Kids the World.
Click on the image above to purchase this kit and help raise money for this incredible place. You'll be able to see example LOs using the kit at the link above as well.
Or go to MouseScrappers.com and click on the orange "Donate" button near the top of the page to make direct donation (without the kit) via PayPal.
Every little bit helps!! Do your good deed for the day and either purchase the kit (it's GIGANTIC BTW!!!) or make a little donation. Thanks so much!
